Dear Dorothy, Reading with a certian prupose my cause us to read faster or slower. If someone is reading something for fun or just becase the feel like it, they will read faster because it is fun and they aren't looking for details. If someone is reading for details they will read slower. So I really think to find our reading rate we need to take reading samples of both fun and detailed readings. This way we can see how fast we read and or how slow we read. To Tell you the truth I'm not a fast reader I could read fast but I do not get anything out of it.
