Dear Dorothy, I believe there are different reading rates for different types of reading material. For instance, if you are reading a biology book you would want to read slower and look for content rather than speed. If you are a speedy reader you may want to slow down while reading heavy content material. If you are reading the newspaper to pass time than content really doesn't matter. I guess it just all depends on what you are reading to suggest the WPM. When I read anything I try to read slow so I can comprehend the material. Hopefully I can brush up my reading skills in this class since they are kind of foggy. Sincerely, Becky
